On May 3, 2018 our culinary team had the privilege of competing in the 7th Annual Arc Broward’s Delish Presented by PNC Bank at The Gallery of Amazing Things, in Dania Beach.

Each year, Delish gathers the most progressive and innovative of South Florida Chefs, and partners them with students and graduates of Arc Broward Culinary in an experiential competition attended by more than 450 revelers and guests that raised a generous $150,000 through ticket sales and silent auction. The evening was rounded out with live entertainment, refreshing cocktails and a sumptuous sampling of culinary creations.
Lighthouse Point Yacht Club Culinary Team wins the “Fan Favorite” award

Our Executive Chef Dan Shuman, Arc Broward Student Chef Mary, together with Tristan Duke and Andy J. took the gold for the coveted Fan Favorite Award. The award is determined by a combination of the most guest votes + a landslide win via Facebook Fan Favorite Contest. Our winning dish was the nothing-short-of-divine “Duck Confit, Lemon Goat Cheese, Pickled Shallot, Dill, Sherry Gastrique, Potato Chip.”

Kudos to our competition
We would be remiss in not also expressing kudos to our competition, with whom we kept good company. First, we must congratulate Chef Pushkar Marathe of Ghee together with Arc Culinary Graduate Oxana, who took the “Mayersohn Family Best South Florida Chef” award. This award is determined by a panel of three judges including the lovely Sheli Muñiz, Morning News Anchor, NBC 6 Miami; Scott DeNight, National Sales Director, Badia Spices; and Michael Mayo, Sun Sentinel Dining Critic.

Further kudos to Chef Paula DaSilva of Burlock Coast; Chef Adrienne Grenier of 3030 Ocean; Chef Rey De La Osa of Publix Aprons Cooking School; Chef Toby Joseph of Wild Sea Oyster Bar & Grille; and Chef Philip Darmon of Hardy Park Bistro, and each their respective Arc Broward Student Chefs. Special congratulations to Elizabeth Kovacs who was named Arc Broward Culinary Student of the Year.
There’s something about Mary
Our Arc Broward Culinary Student Chef, Mary hails from Connecticut originally. She moved to Lighthouse Point with her family a few years ago, and enrolled in the Culinary Program at Arc Broward to learn about different cuisines and the various preparations thereof. After completing the program, Mary hopes to find a job where she can meet new people and make lifelong friends in the food service industry. In her spare time, she enjoys baking at home, she especially enjoys baking brownies!
