13 Ways to Personalize Your Wedding

#1. Write Your Own Vows

It’s not for every couple, but writing your own vows is a great way to make your wedding more personalized and unique from any other ceremony your guests have sat at. The difficult part is getting through those vows without choking up on tears!

#2. Welcome Guests with a Custom Sign

Make good use of those beautiful engagement photos you took a few months back and have one (or more) of your favorites blown up and printed on a welcome sign to welcome guests as they enter your ceremony.

#3. Your Officiant Matters

The person you pick as your officiant plays a huge role on how your wedding ceremony plays out – so choose carefully. Make sure to pick someone who will personalize his or her speech to you as a couple and not just say the same thing they say at every wedding.

Picking a family member or close friend is a great way to make things more personal, just make sure they are cut out for the job and won’t stumble over all their words or leave guests saying, huh?

#4. Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

Let your bridesmaids show off their own unique style by letting them pick their own gowns. You can narrow down the color, material, or other elements and then let your ladies personalize their outfits from there.

#5. Create a Memory Table

Grandparents, parents, a special aunt or uncle – we all have beloved family members that have passed away and cannot physically attend our wedding.  Give them a seat at the ceremony by creating a memory table with framed photos of passed loved ones.

#6. Personalize Your Napkins

There are so many fun ways to personalize your napkins. You could simply have your names and wedding date etched on the square, or you could take it a step further and include fun facts about you as a couple on the napkins.

#7. Incorporate Details from Your Parents’ Weddings

Do your parents still have their wedding cake topper? If so, use it! You don’t have to put it on your actual cake, you can always place it on the dessert table for a nice sentimental touch. There are countless other mementoes you could incorporate if your parents still have them sitting around, so make sure to ask.

#8. Get a Photobooth

A photobooth is a great way to make your wedding more fun while personalizing the big day. Most photobooth rentals print the couple’s name and wedding date at the bottom of the photos taken in the booth. This gives guests a chance to remember your wedding forever – and who doesn’t like taking fun photos with props after they’ve had a bit to drink?

#9. Create a Signature Cocktail

Speaking of drinks… create a signature cocktail, something that you love to drink as a couple. This gives everyone a chance to try something that you love, and perhaps even something new.

#10. Give the Tables Names Instead of Numbers

Instead of numbering your tables, give each table a name that represents something near and dear to you as a couple. For instance, if you enjoy hiking different mountains together, use the names of your favorite hikes as table names. Or, if you are world travelers, use different destinations you have been to or plan to go to. Obsessed with dogs? Name each table after a different dog breed. Your options are endless!

#11. Choreograph Dance Routines

Choreographed dances can include just about anyone – from the wedding party to the bride and groom. This offers a fun way to entertain your guests while spicing up the traditional dances.

#12. Include Your Pets in the Ceremony

This is something we see more and more of, and people love it! Include your dog or other pets in the ceremony for an extra special personalized touch.

#13. Monogram Your Dress Hanger

Almost all wedding photographers take pictures of your wedding dress before you put it on. So, why not invest in a personalized hanger to show it off? You can order monogramed dress hangers on sites like Etsy for an extra special touch.
