Full Teen Eco Experience
This program combines volunteer work with teen-focused activities and field trips. Participants are assigned to a camper group (ages 5–9), where they assist certified teachers and college students in guiding younger campers through outdoor activities such as canoeing, art, science, and sports. During this time, teens earn community service hours required for high school.
In addition to their volunteer duties, teens join the Teen Eco Coordinator for exclusive activities, professional development sessions, and field trips designed specifically for them. These experiences include environmental science projects, leadership workshops, and team-building exercises. A full list of activities and pricing is available further down the page.
The Teen Eco Experience provides an enriching mix of professional development, outdoor skills, and environmental science activities, ensuring a well-rounded experience.
- Career Preparation: Teens learn the essentials of resume writing, interview skills, and professional communication to prepare for future opportunities.
- Park Service Projects: Teens work on hands-on projects that improve the park and leave a lasting legacy, emphasizing teamwork and environmental stewardship.
- Environmental Science: Explore Florida’s ecosystems, marine biology, conservation efforts, and renewable energy through interactive projects and workshops.
- Team Building: Fun and innovative activities help teens build leadership skills, improve problem-solving, and develop character.
- Outdoor Skills: Activities like orienteering, primitive cooking, wildlife identification, and medicinal plant workshops connect teens with nature.
- On-Site Activities: Teens participate in creative projects and environmental science activities during the second half of the camp day, adding variety and excitement to their experience.
Full Teen Eco Experience
This program is open to 14 teens per week and focuses solely on volunteer work. Teens volunteer for the entire camp day (8:30 AM – 4:00 PM), assisting younger campers with group activities and participating in field trips alongside them. Volunteer-only participants will earn service hours but will not take part in the Teen Eco Experience-specific activities or field trips.
The fee for this program is $75 per week, which covers administration costs and required camp t-shirts.
Teen volunteers are needed year-round, including during Winter, Spring, and Summer Camps. Responsibilities include assisting younger campers in activities such as science, art, canoeing, and fishing. Volunteers also help with setup, cleanup, teaching Leave-No-Trace principles, and playing games with campers.
